Offering Coach Friendly Status, Dungarvan is situated along Ireland’s ‘Ancient East’, surrounded by stunning coastline and countryside. Offering many unique attractions and experiences, Dungarvan is an ideal spot for a day trip or a perfect base for a more thorough exploration of all that West Waterford has to offer. Dungarvan is at the start of the Waterford Greenway, which follows the old railway line from Dungarvan to Waterford, will provide 46km of off-road trails that travel through time and nature.

A ‘Coach Set Down’ area, has been designated and marked on Davitt’s Quay for the convenience of visiting tourist coaches. The area is used for coaches to pull in to Davitt’s Quay so that passengers can safely alight near the town centre.  Visitors can then access services, attractions and hospitality areas quickly and comfortably. The ‘Coach Set Down’ area will also serve as a safe, convenient rendezvous and pick-up spot for passengers.

Dungarvan also offers specifically assigned Bus Parking Bays which the coach driver can access following delivery of passengers to the Coach Set Down area.  These Bus Parking Bays are situated at ‘The Lookout ‘overlooking the picturesque Cunnigar peninsula where there is no restriction on parking time.

Facilities for group comfort

There are many recreational areas in Dungarvan both inside and out.

In our Grattan Square there is a civic space for people to relax, this is also the centre of many events. There is much indoor and outdoor seating at cafes and restaurants and bars in Dungarvan town centre and all along the picturesque quayside.

The Dungarvan Tourist Office can arrange group booking for snacks/ lunch/dinner when requested.

Toilets & Facilities to handle disabled and mobility impaired coach passengers

There are a number of toilets available to the public including at the Dungarvan Shopping Centre, Waterford County Library, Civic Offices Dungarvan and Garveys Supervalu all of which are wheelchair accessible.

Dungarvan is Ireland’s first Dementia Friendly town

In a joint initiative between Home Instead Senior Care and Dungarvan Chamber of Commerce numerous local businesses completed a free training workshop, devised and facilitated by Home Instead Senior Care, which stressed the importance to service providers and retailers of having a better understanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Over fifty key frontline staff in these businesses underwent the training, which will greatly assist them in their future dealings with dementia sufferers, their carer’s and families.
