The ninth bi-annual Coach and Bus Show, sponsored by Campion Insurance, took place in the RDS Simmonscourt Pavilion on the 12th and 13th of November. The show was officially opened by Ireland’s E.U. Commissioner Phil Hogan. The event was a complete sell out with in excess of eighty Exhibitors featuring large and small industry suppliers showcasing their unique range of products and services.
The list of Exhibitors read like the “Who’s Who” of the Road Passenger Transport Sector and included large manufacturers such as Van Hool, Mercedes/Daimler, Scania, DAF, UNVI, Harris Higer, Yutong and Ensign. This year’s Show was the ninth biannual event and featured recorded attendances and was, once again, generously sponsored by Campion Insurance and the Coach Tourism and Transport Council is very grateful for their continued support.
The CTTC’s National Director, Kevin Traynor, stated “This year’s Show was a huge success with Exhibitors reporting significant sales; particularly in the large and midi coach sector. There was a terrific atmosphere and positivity during the show and this was evidenced by the large attendance who were there not only to view the latest products on the market, but to purchase vehicles for next season, following the industry first strong year of growth since 2008”.
Kevin further stated “The purpose of the show is to fund the work of the CTTC as the voice of Ireland’s private bus and coach operators. With significant challenges ahead in the areas of PSO Tendering, unfavourable conditions for School Transport providers, increased regulation and increased insurance costs, the CTTC’s work is more important than ever.”
The Gala Dinner was the social highlight of the show weekend and took place in the Ballsbridge Hotel on the evening of Saturday 12th of November. The event was sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres and entertainment was provided by the popular show band “Check it Out” for the 380 guests who had a most enjoyable evening.
